Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

For us, June means Pride Month. Spencer was a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and we confidently stood behind him! This June looks quite different for us, as we don’t have Spencer here. That doesn’t mean we can’t honor him and celebrate love!

Spencer came out as openly gay at 16 years old and his confidence was admired from near and far. He attended a pride parade and festival in June of 2019, and surely would’ve in June of 2020 if they had taken place. Since he had only recently been an open member of the community, he was still getting used to the colors and the rainbows. We took them full force this year.

To show the LGBTQ+ community that they had such a special member and that they’re all loved, our family had a goal of having three businesses (including our very own) display a rainbow pride flag for the month of June to spread acceptance and love. We put our flag up and advertised online that we would pay for one if anyone wanted to fly one. Again, the goal was three.

Today, there are 150+ flags flying in and out of our little town because of one simple post and request. The inclusiveness has been astonishing and we couldn’t be prouder that each and every one of those people wanted to honor our Spencer in such an open way!

We know Spencer is looking down on Englewood and beaming. Who would’ve known this little town could be so colorful! Happy Pride month to all. We love you!
